The SoLux Framing Art Light Collection has been expanded and improved to ensure optimal viewing conditions for paintings in museums, galleries, and private homes. This versatile line of light projectors offers more light, more flexibility of use, and best of all uses SoLux, providing optimal presentation and preservation of art. The framing feature enables the user to illuminate art without spilling on to the wall, creating a pure and brilliant display of the artist's work.
The SoLux Framing Art Light Collection is now available in Track Head, Clamp-on, and Recessed styles. All fixtures are covered under Tailored Lighting's unmatched 5 year limited warranty.
The Framing Art Light projects a square, rectangle, or any four sided polygon on artwork with minimal light spill, giving paintings and drawings a "self illuminating" effect. A single imaging lens is used to control the sharpness of the light beam. The lens focus is controlled by rotating the barrel. The framing projector utilizes the SoLux Daylight Bulb developed and patented by Tailored Lighting Inc. SoLux is specified by the worlds premier museums and art galleries on paintings by Picasso, Monet, Degas, Van Gogh, Vermeer, Gauguin, and Rembrandt to name a few. A wonderful example of SoLux framed on art was on display at the George Eastman House.
At 6 feet away The SoLux Framing Art light can easily light a 2.0 x 2.0 foot painting or if you have a smaller painting the artlight can be adjusted to produce a pattern as small as a couple inches square. We suggest you refer to our data sheet to determine the minimum distances required to frame your art. If you have larger paintings you wish to be illuminated, contact us we offer free lighting consultation services to our customers.
The Framing Art Light provides the perfect solution for lighting artwork. There is minimal light spill around the painting maximizing contrast and minimizing glare. With SoLux providing the best color rendering light while emitting the lowest UV and IR levels of any light source, your artwork will be presented and preserved under optimal conditions. The result is simply stunning.
The Framing Track Head Fixture Kit includes: Special Track Fixture, Newly Designed Round Snout, Framing Optical Assembly, Neutral Density Screen Kit, and for a limited time FREE SoLux Black Back Bulb. The track head has customized tightening screws on the yoke to insure stable pointing. The framing projector attaches to Halo track or a monopoint halo fitting which is a 5.375"x 5.375" plate that mounts to the ceiling shown to the right and can be purchased below. Click here to purchase halo track components or if you have Juno or Lightolier track contact us. The Round Snout fits on all previous and existing track fixtures sold by TLI. The Snout is designed as a standalone to block stray light emitted from the fixture and provides a means to mount the Framing Optical Assembly. The Newly Designed Snout is attached using a set screw as opposed to a retaining ring as years past and no longer requires a separate ring adapter.
The clamp-on fixture is perfect for temporary displays or hard to illuminate areas providing uncompromising color and quality. The clamp-on fixture is available in black or white. The optional framing optic (also available in white or black) offers the ability to illuminate the painting without spilling out on to the wall. The arm extends out 22" to 32". A 2" Clamp is standard. The transformer has a built in on-off switch and a detachable 12foot cord.
The Recessed Framing Art Light Kit includes: Retractable Fixture Trim for 4" Recessed Low Voltage Can, Snout Kit for Retractable Trim Fixture, Framing Optical Assembly, Neutral density Screen Kit, and SoLux Bulb. If you do not have a low voltage "can" or "high hat" installed in your ceiling you need to purchase either a new construction or remodel unit. A useful You Tube Video has been made by Kevin McGuire, Inventor of SoLux, showing how to install the Recessed Framing Art Light Kit once the recessed light and retractable trim have been installed. The assembly process of the snout also applies to the track fixture. Go to You Tube.
To fine tune the output of the art light without changing the color temperature we have developed the Neutral Density Screen Kit. The Kit allows you to reduce the output by 30%, 50%, or 60% depending on how many screens you use. The Screen Kit is positioned between the round snout and SoLux bulb.
For best results, use with minimal ambient light and for optimal efficiency and uniformity we suggest a SoLux 3500K 24 degree Black Back light source for this application. A useful data sheet has been made offering information on foot-candles, maximum frame size and color temperatures for various distances, and SoLux bulb types.
